The award was presented last night at the Executive and VIP Dinner of the 128th OGC Member Meeting in Delft, The Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Community Impact Award is given by OGC to highlight and recognize those members of the OGC Community who, through their exceptional leadership, volunteerism, collaboration, and investment, have had a positive impact on the wider geospatial community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gobe Hobona, OGC Director of Product Management, Standards, commented: \u201cJ\u00e9r\u00f4me and colleagues from Ecere have been active participants of most OGC Code Sprints over the past five years, as well as contributors to several activities of Standards Working Groups. Their willingness to assist other participants during Code Sprints has helped to get many participants up to speed and to boost the work of the Code Sprints\u2019 community of experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJ\u00e9r\u00f4me has also been a steadfast advocate of OGC Standards for symbology and portrayal, as demonstrated by his engagement of the cartographic community on the <a href=\"https:\/\/ica-abs.copernicus.org\/articles\/6\/91\/2023\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">next generation of OGC web mapping<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ica-abs.copernicus.org\/articles\/6\/103\/2023\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">portrayal Standards<\/a>. This engagement has facilitated the collaboration between the OGC and its partner communities in the cartographic domain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJ\u00e9r\u00f4me has been a key enabler for the implementation of OGC Standards,\u201d added Joana Simoes, OGC Developer Relations. \u201cBesides providing extremely complete implementations in GNOSIS, which can be used by others as a reference, he has always been available to help other projects \u2013 both online through Github and in-person during Code Sprints. Many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osgeo.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OSGeo<\/a> projects have improved their standards support thanks to GitHub issues filed or answered by J\u00e9r\u00f4me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notably, J\u00e9r\u00f4me is also the Co-Chair of five&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ogc.org\/about-ogc\/committees\/swg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OGC Standards Working Groups<\/a>: OGC API \u2013 Common SWG, Coverages SWG, Styles &amp; Symbology Encoding SWG, Discrete Global Grid Systems SWG, and OGC API \u2013 Tiles SWG. In addition to this, J\u00e9r\u00f4me is also Co-Editor of the OGC API &#8211; Maps, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.ogc.org\/DRAFTS\/21-009.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OGC API &#8211; Processes &#8211; Part 3: Workflows<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/opengeospatial\/CDBV2-2023-Summer-Workshop\/tree\/main\/cdb2-gkpg-dstore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OGC CDB 2.0 &#8211; Part 2: GeoPackage Data Store<\/a>, and OGC API &#8211; 3D GeoVolumes Standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ecere Corporation has, and continues to, make an impact within the OGC Community through their active leadership, collaboration, and engagement across numerous OGC <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/opengeospatial\/developer-events\/wiki\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Code Sprints<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ogc.org\/innovation\/active\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Collaborative Solutions and Innovation Program (COSI) Initiatives<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ogc.org\/about-ogc\/committees\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Working Groups<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ogc.org\/meet\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Member Meetings<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The OGC Community Impact award highlights the importance of collaboration, volunteering time and energy, advancing technologies and Standards, raising awareness, and helping solve critical issues across the geospatial community.
