{"id":17124,"date":"2021-04-12T12:22:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T12:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ogc.org\/news\/us-army-geospatial-center-upgrades-ogc-membership-to-advance-open-systems\/"},"modified":"2021-04-12T12:22:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T12:22:17","slug":"us-army-geospatial-center-upgrades-ogc-membership-to-advance-open-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fm-connect1.fortmindz.in\/wp-ogc\/announcement\/us-army-geospatial-center-upgrades-ogc-membership-to-advance-open-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"US Army Geospatial Center Upgrades OGC Membership to Advance Open Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\"><em>AGC&apos;s new level of OGC membership supports advancing standards for cross-system interoperability and geospatial information sharing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"US Army Geospatial Center Upgrades OGC Membership to Advance Open Systems\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/legacy_pr\/AGC-ug_SM_1024x536.jpg\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 314px;\"><\/p>\n<p>The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is pleased to announce that the US Army Geospatial Center (AGC) has raised its membership in OGC to Principal level.<\/p>\n<p>As a Principal Member of OGC, AGC will participate across OGC activities and serve in OGC&apos;s Planning Committee to help OGC advance geospatial interoperability and open systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&apos;s great to see the US Army Geospatial Center upgrading their OGC Membership to Principal Level,\u201d said OGC CEO Dr. Nadine Alameh. \u201cAGC has long been a supporter of OGC&apos;s innovation and standardization programs in areas ranging from Web Map Service (WMS) and GeoPackage, to more recent efforts leading Vector Tiles pilot projects and OGC&apos;s emerging Routes and 3D GeoVolumes APIs. The AGC&apos;s leadership on <a href=\"https:\/\/ogcapi.ogc.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OGC APIs<\/a> has helped greatly accelerate the development of these building blocks for open systems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe US Army Geospatial Center is pleased to upgrade its OGC Membership to Principal Level,\u201d said Josh Delmonico, Chief, Enterprise Support Branch. \u201cThe Army Geospatial Enterprise includes more than 100 Army systems that must share information, and OGC standards are a key capability as Army modernizes to meet future challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OGC Principal Members participate in final approval decisions for all OGC standards and nominations to the Board of Directors, and ensure OGC&apos;s policies and procedures remain effective and agile in a changing technological environment.<\/p>\n<p>As an OGC Principal Member, AGC will work alongside other world-leading Principal Member organizations looking to advance the location information industry, including Airbus Defence &amp; Space, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the Indian Department of Science and Technology, UK Dstl, Esri, Feng Chia University, Google, Hexagon, Leidos, Maxar, Microsoft Corporation, the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), Oracle, Trimble Navigation, and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
