{"id":17262,"date":"2025-06-10T06:49:43","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T10:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ogc.org\/?p=17246"},"modified":"2025-11-18T11:00:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T11:00:08","slug":"clark-university-joins-the-open-geospatial-consortium-ogc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fm-connect1.fortmindz.in\/wp-ogc\/announcement\/clark-university-joins-the-open-geospatial-consortium-ogc\/","title":{"rendered":"Clark University joins the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Scholars at Clark University have joined the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), a move spearheaded by the university\u2019s Center for Geospatial Analytics (Clark CGA) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/departments\/geography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Graduate School of Geography<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clark CGA is an interdisciplinary research center that advances geospatial software and technology and collaborates with top researchers, policy experts, and industry leaders to address a range of challenges in conservation, climate change impacts, and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With roots tracing back to the birth of GIS in the late 1980s, Clark has been a pioneer in remote sensing and geospatial analytics, leading the way through cutting-edge research and software development at the Graduate School of Geography and Clark Labs, which created the world\u2019s first GIS software for a microcomputer platform, TerrSet\/IDRISI, in 1987.&nbsp; Established in 2023, Clark CGA furthers Clark\u2019s distinguished legacy in advancing GIS for sustainable environmental stewardship. Clark CGA merged with Clark Labs in March of 2024, combining forces to continue ongoing projects and develop established tools like TerrSet\/IDRISI and its free, open-access version, TerrSet liberaGIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership in the Consortium will expand CGA\u2019s mission to develop open-source tools and solutions.
