Why Workplace Inclusion Matters

The Whistler Multicultural Society

The Whistler Multicultural Society (WMS) is a community-driven non-profit working to build a more equitable and inclusive Sea to Sky region. Founded from a grassroots group supporting immigrants and newcomers, WMS provides programs and opportunities that foster intercultural understanding, meaningful connection, and shared learning across diverse cultures and identities.

Our mission is to empower immigrants, newcomers, and other equity-seeking individuals to participate fully in community life, to grow their voice and leadership, and to help create a community where racial and cultural diversity enriches us all. We do this through cultural sharing events, dialogue and learning opportunities, leadership and networking programs, and supports that help people thrive socially, professionally, and personally.

WMS Society, at the heart of our work lies a commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism — not as abstract ideas, but as everyday practices that benefit everyone in the places we live and work.

About the
Resilience Committee and This Charter

This Workplace Inclusion Charter was developed by the Sea to Sky Resilience Allyship led by WMS in partnership with community allies. Through our Resilience Sea to Sky program, we bring together individuals, organizations, employers, and community members to learn about racism and discrimination, share experiences, and explore how we can respond together. We create spaces for dialogue, build intercultural competency, and support collective action toward equity and belonging

Our resilience work is rooted in the belief that everyone — particularly people from racialized, immigrant, and equity-seeking communities — deserves workplaces where they feel valued, respected, and able to contribute their full talents. Unfortunately, many people experience bias, exclusion, or barriers in their workplaces — not because of lack of skill or commitment, but because systemic inequities still shape everyday interactions and opportunities.
This charter is our community’s commitment to changing that.
